In short: this site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools and loads no content from third parties. Only what is needed to run the site and to answer your message is processed.

Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. When the site is accessed, the server stores technically necessary data in log files:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of access
- page accessed and amount of data transferred
- browser, operating system and referring page, if transmitted
The purpose is the secure and stable operation of the site, for example defending against attacks. The legal basis is legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The logs are deleted after 14 days. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.
Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is the initiation or performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or my legitimate interest in replying (point (f)). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Cookies, analytics, fonts
This site sets no cookies and uses neither analytics nor tracking services. Fonts are loaded from this site's own server, not from Google or other providers; no data is passed on to third parties in the process.
Links to other sites
The site links to LinkedIn, the Microsoft Store, songrepertoire.com, prosoftsolutions.at and mia4live.at. Data is only transmitted to the respective operator once you follow a link; that operator's privacy policy then applies.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. An informal email to office@gernotknes.com is sufficient.
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde (Austrian Data Protection Authority), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Wien (Vienna), dsb.gv.at.
